Today, we celebrate Walter Travis—golf’s Grand Old Man and the inspiration behind our 5th hole. From picking up golf at 36 to winning 3 U.S. Amateurs by 42, Travis was a legend both on the course and as an architect.
Known for his penal designs, Travis loved pot bunkers and “chocolate drop” moguls—features you’ll find right here on Hole #5. With a ridge-divided green and a tricky back slope, this hole demands strategy and precision—just as Travis intended.
